Spring is here, and as we approach May, many people are getting amped up for the NFL Draft, which is only one week away! While football remains my personal favorite sport to bet on, there are many options that allow sports gamblers options to get some action in this Spring.
Major League Baseball is in full swing, and with many teams off to slow starts it’s been an interesting year to say the least. The Boston Red Sox are slumping, while the divisional foe Baltimore Orioles are off to a hot start in comparison to recent years statistics. Major League Baseball betting remains a fun passtime, with games starting around lunch time on the East Coast on most days except Tuesday.
The NBA Playoffs are under way and packed with action. The star studded Miami Heat are up on the 76ers 2-0 at time of writing this entry, and the Los Angeles Lakers, the defending champs, are deadlocked in their series, 1-1. The storied Boston Celtics are up two games to zero versus the New York Knicks, but the wins have not come easy – with both games going down to the wire. The NBA Playoffs are always action packed, and betting on the NBA is routine for many sports gamblers like myself.
The NHL Playoffs are here as well. The Detroit Red Wings made quick work of the Phoenix Coyotes, and are the lone team to advance so far, winning their series 4-0 in rapid fashion. All other series are still going on, with the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks on the verge of being knocked out, down 3 games to 1 against Vancouver.
Of course, for all the gear-heads out there, Nascar is running at full speed, no pun intended. Jimmie Johnson just won this past weekend at Talladega, and the next event in the Sprint Cup Series will take place next weekend, April 30th, in Richmond.
No matter which sport you like to follow and bet on, there are many events to follow and the action is better than ever. Will there be a new NBA Champion, or can the LA Lakers successfully defend the crown? There is almost certain to be a new NHL champion – who will it be?
And not to forget about you soccer fans, the Spring Season is sure to fill even the pickiest football fanatic with joy – the Champions League is going strong and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo headed home a ball in the 18th minute to help Real Madrid beat rival Barcelona to win the Copa del Rey.
Blog readers, what is your favorite Spring time sport to bet on?
